Amazon started its journey back in 1995, and it has turned into a worldwide giant and a household name. Amazon is a pioneer in many fields, primarily the e-commerce industry. It started its journey as an online book store. However, you can find anything on Amazon right now. Let’s explore some of the most amazing Amazon Technologies that have revolutionized the world and the digital industry.

Amazon (Virtual) Dash Button

Amazon announced its Dash Button Technology in 2015. When Amazon first brought the idea to the market, many people thought it was a joke. This was when the company had to step in and clarify that this technology was indeed real.

The idea was to place single-function controllers around the house to control different household objects by name. The controllers were the size of a pack of gum. The owners only had to press the dash button, and the controller automatically took care of everything. These buttons and controllers can reorganize different household objects or clean them at the press of a button.

Furthermore, these buttons were also capable of counting the inventory and ordering products automatically. This way, the homeowners never had to worry about running out of products, groceries, and other household items. Amazon discontinued these buttons in 2019. However, the company still offers compatibility for the existing buttons.

AmazonFresh

Another brilliant Amazon technology is AmazonFresh. The idea of buying groceries online dates back to the 1990s. However, the only company that has ever received any true success in this arena is Amazon. This is no surprise since Amazon is the biggest online seller in the world right now.

The idea behind this model was to allow people from different regions to order groceries directly from the Amazon platform. Moreover, people did not have to worry about getting outdated or expired groceries. Amazon had a business model in place that allowed people to purchase groceries from big brands right away. These groceries are delivered within 2 hours. This allows people to enjoy fresh groceries within 120 minutes.

Amazon launched this technology back in 2007 in the Seattle area. Moreover, it has expanded into 15 metropolitan areas over the years. Amazon also purchased Whole Foods in 2017 to further expand this idea. However, this technology is still within the Seattle suburbs. Amazon plans to launch this technology all over the world soon. This way, Amazon users can order fresh groceries from the platform.

Amazon Prime Air

This is yet another brilliant idea from Amazon. It seemed a little far-fetched in the beginning. However, thanks to the recent technological advancements, Amazon claims that it will deliver any orders within 30 minutes all over the world. How will Amazon achieve this? According to Amazon executives, the company plans to use unmanned aerial vehicles to deliver its orders.

This means that you will see Amazon drones flying worldwide to deliver any order within 30 minutes. Amazon also tested this idea a few years ago. However, it still lacked a few finishing touches. This is why Amazon postponed the idea indefinitely. However, Amazon claims that it is slowly nearing the completion of this project. Once this project is completed, people will be able to receive their orders within 30 minutes flat.

The only issue that remains is the use of drone technology for order delivery. Some people are still dubious about drones and how these can be hacked to deploy weapons or spy on people. This is why Amazon is still waiting for the general perception to change about drones. Currently, Amazon has development centers running in the US, UK, France, and Israel for its Prime Air project.

Final Word

Amazon has been at the forefront of technological advancements in the last decade. The company introduced us to brilliant technologies, from virtual assistants to well-managed hosting systems. These are just a handful of the technologies that Amazon brought to the world. It plans to revolutionize the e-commerce industry soon and commercialize the use of drones and automated technologies for online shopping and households.
